The Bachelor of Science in Botany program delves into the scientific study of plants and their relationship to the environment. This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of plant biology, including their structural properties and bio-chemical processes, from the molecular to the ecosystem level.
The course covers a broad range of topics, including plant physiology, taxonomy, ecology, genetics, evolution, and plant development. Students will be able to explore the plant structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, development, disease resistance, and biochemical properties of plants and basic bioinformatics and computer uses in plant science. Practical work forms a significant part of the program, providing students with hands-on expertise in field and laboratory skills. The program also encourages the development of analytical and problem-solving skills, which are valuable in the field of botany.
We have a Botanical Garden spread over more than one acre, which comprises medicinal, wild & ornamental plants useful in morphological & physiological studies / experiments.
Graduate students can pursue careers in various sectors such as research, education, environmental awareness, consultancy, agriculture, and horticulture. They can work as Botanists, Ecologists, Environmental Consultants, Agricultural Scientists, Plant Taxonomists, Microbiologists, and many more.
Our botany lab serves as a vibrant center for scientific discovery and exploration, offering students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and research orientation in the captivating world of plants.
Our lab boasts state-of-the-art facilities designed to facilitate a wide range of botanical experiments, from microscopes for cellular and anatomical investigations to specialized equipment for plant physiology and genetics. Our lab is well-equipped to support various branches of botanical experiments.
We encourage students to explore research projects that contribute to our understanding of plants. The lab provides a platform for students to consult with faculty members on research endeavors, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the field of plant science.
Safety is our top priority, and we strictly adhere to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all lab participants. Students are provided with appropriate safety gear, including lab coats and safety goggles, to create a secure learning environment. Experienced lab staff and faculty members closely supervise all experiments to maintain a safe and controlled environment.
